The X-Chain machine is also the first lighting tower in the market that has a patented mast emergency brake system to improve safety of the operators on site (Registration number: 102017000044431)

Ray Caulfield (TRIME UK) wins the Lifetime Achievement Award

Ray Caulfield (TRIME UK) wins the Lifetime Achievement Award

Rental industry stalwart, Ray Caulfield is celebrating winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 European Rental Awards.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a candidate that has, in the opinion of the judges, made a major contribution to the European rental industry throughout their career.
Ray (69) began his career many years ago as an apprentice fitter for an international contractor. Over time Ray has held several senior management positions, with suppliers to the industry and as a regional director with a leading UK rental organisation. He currently holds the position as CEO with the leading lighting tower manufacturer, Trime spa.
The judges said: “Ray Caulfield is a true veteran of the equipment rental industry, with a career spanning 52 years. In that time he has played a significant part in many aspects of rental – product development, rental sales training, the creation of environmentally friendly products. Just as important, our winner has always conducted himself with good humour and humility.”
Away from work, Ray’s charitable contributions have not gone unrecognised. In 2013 he was granted Freedom of the City of London receiving his Certificate from the Lord Chamberlain. The granting of the Freedom of the City of London is one of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies still in existence today, having been inaugurated in 1237. Ray has helped to raise in excess of £300,000 for the Nordoff Robbins charity which, through music therapy, improves dramatically the lives of children born with brain and mental disorders.

Commenting on winning this award, Ray said, “I am absolutely delighted to be given this award, I have worked alongside some very talented people throughout the years and seen most of them bring success to their own careers. To be formally recognised by the industry is both gratifying and humbling.”

European Rental Awards dinner was held on 3rd May at the Amsterdam RAI exhibition centre. The dinner took place during the European Rental Association’s annual convention and coincided with the International Rental Exhibition (IRE) and the APEX aerial platform show.

Trime expands into Northern Ireland

Trime expands into Northern Ireland

Trime UK reports that business in Northern Ireland has got off to a brisk start following the recent appointment of Dungannon-based Glendun Plant Sales as its dealer and distributor for the region.

The sales agreement was successfully concluded at the Executive Hire Show. Glendun Plant placed an initial order for 14 X-Eco lighting towers, each fitted with energy saving LED lamps connected to an 8.5m vertical hydraulic mast with 340° rotation. Since then, it has ordered a further six machines to meet growing demand.

Trime’s Italian parent is headed by Technical Director, Andrea Fontanella, with UK operations managed by Paul Hay. The CEO of the Trime Group is Ray Caulfield. Glendun Plant’s MD, Derek Weir said, “It was no surprise to me to learn that Andrea, Ray and Paul have a combined 50 years’ experience in the lighting tower industry. We are looking forward to working in partnership with them.” Sales Director, Dermot Cunnie, added, “We visited the Show with the principal aim to seek out a manufacturer of lighting towers to add into our product portfolio.”

Pictured after completing the agreement are, from left, Dermot Cunnie, Andrea Fontanella, Derek Weir and Ray Caulfield.

Boels invests in lighting masts

Boels invests in lighting masts

Rental company Boels has expanded its fleet with new stationary lighting masts and balloon lighting masts from manufacturer Trime.
Boels said the latest additions to its fleet – which Trime produced exclusively for Boels - were more energy-efficient, environmentally friendly and quieter than their predecessors. It said they were durable, offered low fuel consumption and noise output.
The new stationary lighting mast boasts a hydraulic mast and four 300-Watt LEDs and can illuminate 3900m² (with 5 Lux), offering an autonomous operating time of 600 hours from its diesel engine.
The built-in timer and light sensor also allow the mast to be switched on automatically, while the hoisting eye and fork pockets on all sides make the lighting mast easy to move with a crane and forklift truck.
Boels said the stationary lighting masts were well-suited for a range of uses, including building sites, at industrial plants, during events and in car parks and ports.
Meanwhile, the new stationary balloon lighting mast is a carbon-neutral 600-Watt LED balloon that produces non-blinding clear light in a 360o arc.
Two models of the product are available: the battery-pack model (with a minimum operating time of 50 hours), and the (230 V) electrically powered model. Both models can be configured to switch on and off automatically.
